The Traffic Division is commanded by Lieutenant
Chad Dorn and his assistant, Sergeant Trent Boyd.
The Traffic Unit currently consists of Four
Harley Davison Road King police motorcycles. The Traffic Division
handles traffic crashes, funeral and parade escorts, dignitary
escorts as well as other traffic control issues.
The goal and objectives of the Picayune Police
Department's Traffic Unit are to reduce the number and severity of
traffic crashes in our city. This is done by Assessment, Education,
and Enforcement. Some methods used to accomplish this goal are:

High visibility and strict enforcement of
traffic violations in area where crashes occur frequently or
there is a pattern such as speeding.

Conducting DUI and Safety Checkpoints and
Saturation Patrol.

Conducting public education for traffic
safety purposes.
|

Making recommendations concerning specific
problem areas to State and City Road Departments concerning
issues such as signs, stoplights, and obstructions of visions.
