The Picayune Police Department wins Mississippi Municipal League Award in the Public Safety category for cities with a population of 10,000 or more. The program is called the 911 Cell Phone program. The program offers a free cell phone to senior citizens, domestic abuse victims and disabled citizens. The phone will only dial 911 in case of an emergency. Anyone in need of a 911 Cell Phone can call Officer Monica Jacobsen 601-798-7411 ext. 108.
