JIM LUKE
BIOGRAPHY
Chief Jim Luke is married to the former Karen Howell and the father of two daughters, Chanda and Lauren. Jim attended Picayune Memorial High School, Pearl River Junior College, University of Southern Mississippi and the National Crime Prevention Institute. He has spent the last 35 (thirty-five) years in law enforcement and security management.
Chief Jim Luke is currently a member of West Union Baptist Church where he
serves on the building expansion and grounds committees. He
previously served as
a Sunday School Teacher and Director of the Men’s Ministry and was
a member of the finance and pastor search committees at Unity
Baptist Church.
Chief Jim Luke received his Certified Protection Professional (CPP)
Certification in 1990. He previously held office as president of the following associations, the Mississippi Gulf Coast Crime
Prevention Association, the National Association of Chief of Police for Mississippi, the Mississippi Campus Police Associations and the North Hill Property Owners.
Chief Jim Luke has been recognized on the federal, state and local level for his work in Criminal Justice Management.
Chief Jim Luke has served as Police Chief for the Picayune School District and on March 1, 2003 was appointed by the City of Picayune as Chief of Police.
Chief Jim Luke was past Chairman of the Partners for Pearl River County Leadership Program.
Chief Jim Luke was nominated for South Mississippi’s Outstanding Community Leaders for 2005
and 2006. In October of 2004, 2006 and August 2008, Chief Jim Luke was presented
with a Special Award of Honor by the International Narcotic
Enforcement Officers Association for his outstanding accomplishment
with his Three Phase Drug Offensive Program.
Chief Jim Luke currently serves as Chairman of the Board for the Mississippi Law Enforcement Accreditation Commission (MSLEAC). He is also a board member for the Pearl River County Senior Center , on the board of First Southern Bank and is a member of the Community Advisory Council for Highland Community Hospital.
